Catrin qualified initially in 1998 as a Sports Therapist, before qualifying in 2001 as a Chartered Physiotherapist at the University of Salford. Since graduating she has worked in a variety of settings within the NHS, specialising in musculoskeletal Orthopaedics, and Sports Injuries.
As a Orthopaedic Physiotherapy Specialist Practitioner for the NHS, Catrin works in a very busy and dynamic MSK department, as well as GP surgeries and Orthopaedic Out Patients, managing complex orthopaedics, spinal and injection clinics.
As “Physioroute” Catrin has worked extensively with elite athletes for the last 12 years, primarily with the AAW (athletics), FAW (women’s) cycling, golf and swimming. Currently, she works as the Consultant Physiotherapist within the Welsh Rugby Union managing a team of professional and highly skilled Physiotherapists offering pitch side trauma management.
Sports injuries can affect athletes of all ages and abilities, from the world class athlete to the occasional runner. While accidents account for a percentage of injuries, most result from inadequate preparation, recovery, or overtraining.
As a Chartered Physiotherapist with an “elite” experience working within sport, I can help you manage, and avoid the risk of injuries.
As an expert in body and joint movement, I can assess why your injury or niggle developed, treat and manage them, and then work with you to develop an effective treatment plan that will allow you to compete, train, or just enjoy getting active!
Treatment techniques frequently used in a competitive environment include
Joint manipulation / manual therapy, soft tissue mobilisation, sports massage, kinesiology taping / strapping, and if required acupuncture (AACP accredited).
